Chief Executive Officer

Josh McWhorter

With a commitment to relationships, Josh McWhorter, Founder and CEO of McWhorter Capital Partners, has emerged as a leader in the investment industry and built a business largely on client referrals. He has earned a strong reputation as an expert in his field who cares for his clients and for those around him.

After receiving his B.A. from Furman University, Josh spent several successful years in the financial services industry before deciding to start his own firm. In 2009, he founded Black Oak Asset Management, a financial advising firm focused primarily on individuals nearing or in retirement, and the 401(k) Market. After starting his firm, McWhorter obtained a certificate in recognition of the successful completion of the Executive Program for Financial Planning with Distinction in May 2010 from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

By basing his business on integrity and implementing the same principles that had brought him success in previous years, McWhorter’s firm stretched beyond the main location in Georgia to serve clients in twelve other states. He saw his business double from 2010 to 2011 and again from 2011 to 2012. This exponential growth enabled McWhorter to sell Black Oak Asset Management and transition to private real estate.

Always striving for more, Josh founded McWhorter Capital Partners, LLC in July of 2013 with the mindset of "Purpose Driven Investments." MCP now holds and manages a private equity fund, multiple real estate funds, and has owned and managed almost a dozen businesses including a restaurant franchise, an HVAC company, an accounting firm, an advertising and marketing agency, and several property management groups. Also under the McWhorter Capital Partners umbrella, Josh occasionally provides financial, sales and management consulting to local businesses and other professionals.

In August of 2014, McWhorter Capital Partners Charitable Foundation was created. Through the Foundation, Josh was able to gift $100k from the firm to three local non-profit organizations that serve the Cartersville community. A strong believer that giving is an investment in others, his message resounds both with his clientele and throughout the community.

Josh has appeared on CBS 46 and has been quoted in The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Wall Street Journal’s Smart Money, US News and World Report, and Market Watch on topics ranging from retirement policies set forth by then President Obama to policies by the Federal Reserve. He was the keynote speaker at the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Conference at Georgia Southwestern State University and is often called upon for public speaking engagements centered on motivation, charitable giving and personal testimony. McWhorter also co-authored “Outfront” which hit the “Best Sellers” list in 2012. After the book release, McWhorter was recognized by USA Today as one of “America’s Game Changers” within the financial community. He was a featured guest on the television program, “Leading Experts” in Orlando, FL. Most recently, McWhorter was the featured guest on “Live with Studio 6B” out of New York and interviewed by Spotlight Television featuring people who are making a difference. The interview aired on Fox Business where McWhorter talked about life, business and his faith.

Outside of work, McWhorter has taught young adult Bible fellowship classes as well as lead numerous Bible Studies for men. Josh and his wife, Vanessa, reside in Kingston, GA with their four children, Lily, Bear, Olivia, and Lydia. McWhorter is a deacon at Cartersville First Baptist Church, coaches multiple youth sports teams, and enjoys playing golf when he has the opportunity.
